This syllabus may be amended as the course proceeds. You will be notified of all changes.

Q: Do I turn in thumbnails?
A: Yes, at the beginning of the graded Critique (C2) or I lower your grade, even if you did them and show them to me later. If for what ever reason you are not to turn them in, I will state that on the class "Weeklies" otherwise assume that they are required.

Q: Is there any excuse for turning in work late?
A: Yes, but the reasons are so horrible, I don't want to bring them up.We will have to talk.

Q: Even if I am just seconds late for C2, my grade is reduced.
A: Yes.

Q: Why am I graded by my classmates and or visiting guests during the Graded Critique?
A: In this class you are never given a grade by anyone other than the instructor. Classmates fill out a Peer Review for you at Critique 1 in order to help you produce a better communication for the graded critique C2. At the C2 critique you are given additional feedback by the class and sometimes outside guests in order to improve the piece for your portfolio should you want to do that. Only I, your friendly, hardly-ever-forgiving instructor appends a grade to that form, adding additional information to it and returning it to you (ideally) by the following week.

Students with Disabilities
Students with disabilities are requested to present their Columbia accommodation letters to their instructor at the beginning of the semester so that accommodations can be
arranged in a timely manner by the College, the department or the faculty member, as appropriate. Students with disabilities who do not have accommodation letters should visit the office of Services for Students with Disabilities in room 520 of the Congress building (312.344.8134/V or 312.360.0767/TTY). It is incumbent upon the students to know their responsibilities in this regard.
