Review for Proposed Minor The following information is needed for the review of a proposed new minor. Section I: General Information A. Summarize: 1. What is the rationale/need for offering this minor? 2. How will the program enhance the College’s mission to provide a comprehensive educational opportunity in the arts and communication? 3. How does the program respond to trends or emerging areas of study in arts and communication? B. Course titles and descriptions for all required proposed for this minor. (For new courses include course outline.) C. A list of minor requirements, including core requirements and suggested electives. II. Departmental or Minor Goals A. What are the learning outcomes for the proposed minor? B. What plans do you have to evaluate or assess the curriculum? III. Minor Curriculum and Course Analysis A. What is the rationale for the structure of this minor? Also, summarize course leveling, describing the progression from introductory to intermediate to advanced courses. B. How do the courses in this minor prepare students for immediate employment or further study? C. What opportunities are available for internships or fieldwork in this minor? D. How might the minor incorporate/utilize the College’s research centers or enhance co-curricular opportunities? IV. Faculty or Personnel A. What are the faculty requirements for this new minor? Can your present departmental faculty teach and administer this minor, or are additional faculty needed? B. How do the areas of expertise of the present faculty relate to the projected curriculum? V. Resources A. Describe additional resources required for this minor. This includes space, equipment, staff, marketing and any other potential costs. Describe any additional library resources that can be expected. B. Describe any funding availability for the proposed minor. |
