Your final portfolio must be professionally presented, in hard copy (not online attachments), in a form suitable for delivery to an editor. Do not, however, spend your hard-earned money on a fancy portfolio presentation book. It is perfectly acceptable for us to receive your work in one of the transmittal envelopes available in the Marketing Communication Office. We are evaluating the professional look of each item, not the overall presentation of your portfolio. Also, be sure to keep your own copies of your work,as your final portfolio will not be returned to you.

(If, however, you're interested in what a good portfolio should look like, take a look at this page on Resumes, Portfolios and Cover Letters from Texas Tech University.)

And, for extra credit, which will have the same weight as each of the other assignments: we will throw out your lowest graded assignment (not counting the final exam, which is final) and substitute the grade you receive on the extra credit assignment. You may do either or both:

  • Planning Memo: From your reading about planning memos in Lesson Twelve, prepare a planning memo for Jessica Haddaway, to outline your PR ideas for getting the most mileage out of Jessica Haddaway's appointment at Armitage Hall.

  • Backgrounder: From your reading about backgrounders in Lesson Twelve, prepare a 4-5 page backgrounder for the Natgo promotion, on natural gas as a motor fuel.
