Help Mei

My performance partner, Nyok-Mei Wong (best know as Mei), has gotten in some serious financial trouble due to a rather complicated immigration related case. On February 15, 2007, when Mei went to check on the status of her Green Card, she learned that it had been rejected in 2003. Surprisingly enough she had never received a rejection letter and had been able to renew her work permit every year without any problems. However, on this day Mei was detained by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Mei spent the next 5 nights in jail in a cell with 19 other women, and was finally released on Tuesday, February 20, 2007, after paying a $10,000.00 bail – pretty much all of her hard earned tuition money. She is now not only facing Deportation, but also lawyer expenses and her tuition bill.

As Mei means a lot to me, and a lot of other people, I would like to extend my invitation to everyone of you to help out. Below is a list of different ways to support Mei, your help will be greatly appreciated. To see projects Mei and I have done in the past, please visit: Art Walks Chicago and NetWorking.

Thank you very much for your consideration,
Anni Holm
