Throughout the month of October, Art Walks Chicago, will present a variety of performances in, but not limited to, the City of Chicago. Please check the calendar below for times and locations:

Thursday, September 28, 2006, 6 - 9pm:

"@rtNight" at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington St., Chicago.
Official Kick-Off Party for Chicago Artists Month 2006. An evening of art and entertainment, featuring live music and performances,complimentary hors d'oeuvres, and exhibition viewing. Art Walks Chicago will present three performances at this event, curated by Anni Holm & Mathew Wilson.

Sunday, October 1, 2006, 10am - 12pm:

"NetWorking" - at the Federal Center Plaza, Adams & Dearborn Streets, Chicago.
Art Walks Chicago invites the public to join in on an unusual knitting networking session. Knitting needles and yarn are provided, however, you are also welcome to bring your own.

Monday, October 2, 2006, 8am - 9am:

"Half Steps = Double Time" - start: Ogilvie Transportation Center, at Madison Street & Canal Street, end Columbia College, 600 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago.
Getting to work in time is not always easy, many commuters, including artist Anni Holm, speed-walk between the train station and work in order to make it in time. However, on this particular morning time seems to have been slowed down.

"When it Rains it Pours" - corner of LaSalle & Monroe, in front of Harris Bank, Chicago.

"The Tie" - Chicago Board of Trade Plaza
In the financial district you see a lot of men with ties, to fit in Anni Holm will knit a tie and then wear it to work.

Friday, October 6, 2006, 8am - 9am:

"Walking Art I - Loop" - from Ogilvie Transportation Center to the Washington/Wells "L" stop, via Madison. Hereafter following the "L" below the tracks counter clockwise around the loop.
With the intention of bringing art to the streets, artist Anni Holm, takes one of her paintings for a walk in the Loop.

Friday, October 6, 2006, 4pm - 6pm:

"The Chicago Prayer Wheel Project" - Daley Plaza
Chicago artist Renee Una presents an interactive traveling sculpture. Viewers are asked to participate buy composing their own prayer or wish for Chicago on a small piece of paper and inserting it into one of the wheels, then gently spinning all the wheels.

"Beat-Bike v.1" - Daley Plaza
Chicago artist Michael Una presents a bicycle-controlled drum machine that rewards excercise and coordination with funky outer-space disco beats. Join him and have fun!

Tuesday, October 10, 2006, 8 - 9am:

"Protesting Protesting", Along Michigan Ave., between Madison & Jackson, but also around City Hall, the Daley Center Plaza, and the Dirsksen Federal Building, Chicago.
Chicago has long since been a perfect atmosphere for protests. In this piece, Performance Artist Chris Roberts will conduct a silent, peaceful protest and march along Michigan Ave.

"But can you get there from here?" in the window of 4125 W. Armitage, Chicago.
An interactive performance and installation that is framed by the notion that life is a journey. It is a timeless story of search, want and hope told through text, spoken work, sound and objects of various kinds and sizes. Rose Camastro-Pritchett and Thomas Plum map out their trip. Where are they going? Is their journey a quest or a destination? Is it an internal or external voyage? Is it fueled by passions of the heart?

Monday, October 16, 2006, 8.45am - ?:

"I've got your back - the indivisible link between art and commerce" - a performance/walk from the sears tower to the MCA, James Beckman and Tzusing Tho. Starting out on the Southwest corner of the Sears Tower.
Bound together, back to back, performance artists James Beckman And Tzusing Tho, will walk the distance between the financial and artistic capitals of Chicago, stopping along the way at various pubs. Pictures coming soon.

"The Commute", Start on South Wacker Drive at Jackson, near the Sears Tower. Walk to Quincy Brown Line, transfer at Library to Jackson Red Line. Walk (underground) to Jackson Blue Line. Continue to Loop from Jackson Blue Line to Washington to Red Line Washington to Jackson, Chicago.
Meet Chicago based performance art trio: Chance of Showers, (Elizabeth Czekner, Bridget Kies, and Liz Wuerffel), when they disguised as three colleagues at a nondescript coorporation, COS, "commute home" throughout the Chicago Loop using public transporatation.

Art Walks Chicago invites the public to join another unusual knitting networking session. Knitting needles and yarn are provided, however, you are also welcome to bring your own. Please dress for the weather and bring a pillow to sit on.
Due to the rain this performance moved at 9.15am into the Caribu Coffee in Ogilvie Transportation Center, right by the fireplace.
